Cole’s first album is out on all music platforms!

Independent Texas country artist Cole Stephens releases his first album, Yesterday’s News, a collection of songs inspired and written between mile markers and long stretches of Texas highway.

Yesterday’s News, a collection of songs inspired and written between mile markers and long stretches of Texas highway. The record captures the truths about the past and the doubts about the future that surface when you're alone with your thoughts on the road.

“Chasing music as an independent artist isn’t for the faint of heart,” Stephens says. “Texas is a big state, and for the last three years I’ve spent more time in my truck than anywhere else. My family thinks it’s strange that I enjoy it, but that’s where I do my best thinking and problem solving.” Stephens is adamant that songwriting often comes from experiences that aren’t always easy or pleasing, but help you learn on the road of life.

Yesterday’s News dives into the quieter battles: overthinking, substance abuse, lost innocence, and relationships that linger in the mind long after they’ve ended. Stephens states that he still doesn’t feel he’s found his “sound” just yet but all the songs on Yesterday’s News reflect his eclectic love of music. From frequenting the honky tonks of East Texas and being an avid concert goer before taking the stage himself, Stephens draws inspiration from many of his Texas heroes such as Koe Wetzel, William Clark Green, and Randy Rogers.

Texas Rock N’ Tonk

BIO

Born and raised in East Texas, Nacogdoches native Cole Stephens has a deep-rooted passion for music and songwriting. Blending country, rock, and gospel influences, Cole has crafted a sound he proudly calls Rock N’ Tonk—a high-energy fusion of country and rock grounded in Texas tradition.

His musical foundation was shaped by the church and his East Texas upbringing. While still in high school, Cole spent his weekends in East Texas honky tonks and dance halls, watching artists such as Koe Wetzel, Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers, Aaron Watson and Cody Johnson. It was there that he fell in love with the Texas Country and Red Dirt scenes. After graduating, Cole began playing shows around his hometown.

Cole packed a college degree into two years, while also focusing on songwriting and releasing original

music. In 2024, he made the move into full-time music, hitting the roads across Texas and sharing stages with artists like Aaron Watson, Josh Ward, Mike Ryan, Kolby Cooper, Stoney LaRue, Cameron Sacky Band, and the Bellamy Brothers. With momentum building, Cole is focused on songwriting and refining his own style. Cole will release his first album in on February 20, 2026, titled “Yesterday’s

News.”
