Yesterday’s News is a collection of songs inspired and written between mile markers and long stretches of Texas highway. Cole Stephens draws inspiration from many of his Texas heroes such as Koe Wetzel, William Clark Green, and Randy Rogers sonically while unfolding a story of “the old versions of me (Cole Stephens)—the mistakes and the seasons I survived that shaped me, but don’t define me now.” Yesterday’s News captures the truths about the past and the doubts about the future that surface when you're alone with your thoughts on the road. With one hand on the wheel and the other holding onto hope, the album traces the tension between ambition, love, exhaustion and disappointment.

Born and raised in East Texas, Nacogdoches native Cole Stephens has a deep-rooted passion for music and songwriting. Blending country, rock, and gospel influences, Cole has crafted a sound he proudly calls Rock N’ Tonk—a high-energy fusion of country and rock grounded in Texas tradition.
His musical foundation was shaped by the church and his East Texas upbringing. While still in high school, Cole spent his weekends in East Texas honky tonks and dance halls, watching artists such as Koe Wetzel, Parker McCollum, Randy Rogers, Aaron Watson and Cody Johnson. It was there that he fell in love with the Texas Country and Red Dirt scenes. After graduating, Cole began playing shows around his hometown.
Cole packed a college degree into two years, while also focusing on songwriting and releasing original
music. In 2024, he made the move into full-time music, hitting the roads across Texas and sharing stages with artists like Aaron Watson, Josh Ward, Mike Ryan, Kolby Cooper, Stoney LaRue, Cameron Sacky Band, and the Bellamy Brothers. With momentum building, Cole is focused on songwriting and refining his own style. Cole will release his first album in on February 20, 2026, titled “Yesterday’s
News.”
